Rivian Unveils 2027 Updates Featuring Top Requested Enhancement
Rivian continues to refine its lineup of electric vehicles, with the latest updates announced for the Model Year 2027 R1 series. The vehicles maintain their impressive specifications, including a range of 329 miles (530 km) for the standard models. Customers can opt for a larger battery option that boosts the range to 410 miles (660 km) for the R1S and 420 miles (675 km) for the R1T.
Power output remains robust at 533 hp (397 kW), with the potential to upgrade to 655 hp (488 kW). Inside, buyers are presented with two available interiors, now rebranded as Black Mountain and Ocean Coast. Notably, the black interior can accommodate a middle bench seat, while opting for captain’s chairs costs an additional $1,500 on top of the $2,500 Sound+Vision package. The full package is priced at $4,500 for the Ocean Coast interior, which includes the Sound+Vision features.
The Performance R1s variant showcases Rivian’s tri-motor powertrain, delivering a whopping 850 hp (634 kW) while achieving a range of 371 miles (597 km). Meanwhile, the R1 Quads retain their established powertrain specifications.
New for this model year are three refreshed interior trim options: Black Mountain, Ocean Coast, and Slate Sky. The bench seating configuration is exclusive to the black interior, with black captain’s chairs available for an additional charge of $1,500. The other two interior options are limited to a six-seat layout, with the Ocean Coast priced at $4,000 and Slate Sky costing $4,500.
In terms of aesthetics, Rivian introduces a striking Esker silver paint, replacing the previous LA Silver variant. Additionally, for the R1T, there’s a new 20-inch all-season tire and wheel designed to enhance both on-road and off-road performance.
