Russell Brand, a convicted rapist, has recently made a startling admission in a U.S. court, acknowledging that he “must have” exposed himself to women without their consent. This revelation contrasts sharply with his previous statements during a criminal trial in the UK, where he consistently maintained that all sexual encounters were consensual.

The new information emerged from documents submitted in a civil lawsuit filed by a woman known only as “Jane Doe.” She alleges that Brand sexually assaulted her while filming the 2011 movie Arthur. The civil case has brought renewed scrutiny of Brand’s past behavior.

According to court records, the woman claims Brand appeared intoxicated and exposed himself on set, later assaulting her in a bathroom. During his deposition, when asked whether he had ever displayed his genitals to anyone without explicit consent, he responded, “Well, the truth is, I feel like I must have done, even though I don’t really remember it and I find the idea embarrassing.”

He further added that he couldn’t categorically rule out such behavior. The incident in question reportedly occurred in July 2010, and the unnamed woman alleges a series of lewd actions, claiming Brand confronted her in a compromising situation and demanded sexual acts against her will.

This testimony is in stark contrast to Brand’s declared stance during his UK criminal trial at Southwark Crown Court, where he vehemently denied any non-consensual interactions. In a statement recorded for police in 2023, he insisted, “I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity.” Moreover, he stated that “consent is fundamental,” despite having been convicted for one rape and multiple counts of sexual assault.

The civil lawsuit seeks an undisclosed amount in damages, with claims of sexual assault, battery, false imprisonment, and emotional distress. The plaintiff has stated she suffered psychological harm and financial losses, while Warner Bros and other studios are facing allegations of negligence regarding the incidents on set.

Brand is also facing another civil suit in London, with a separate woman seeking approximately £100,000 in damages related to similar accusations. A spokesperson for Brand has been approached for comment.
