Prime Video Unveils Full Trailer for Blade Runner 2099 at NYCC
At New York Comic Con (NYCC) this past weekend, Prime Video showcased the much-anticipated full trailer for its new sci-fi series, Blade Runner 2099. Set to premiere in just a few weeks, the event featured stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, along with showrunner Silka Luisa, who revealed key insights about the series.
Following the initial teaser released at San Diego Comic-Con, the full trailer gives viewers a glimpse into the dystopian universe that lies fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049. During the panel discussion, Luisa shared her vision for the narrative, which explores a world where the “replicant uprising” has ultimately triumphed, leaving humans to confront their existential fate. “What happens when our time as a species ends?” she posed, emphasizing the series’ thematic focus on mortality in both micro and macro contexts.
“2099 is unfolding at a juncture when one species is ending and a new one is rising,” Luisa explained. “This show asks: when we realize our time is running out, can we hold on to our humanity?”
In addition to Yeoh as Olwen, the dying replicant, and Schafer as her counterpart Cora, the cast features notable talent including Hugo Hamlet as Buster Friendly, and other names such as Dmitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, and Tom Burke in undisclosed roles. All eight episodes of Blade Runner 2099 will be available for streaming starting November 25, 2026.
Godzilla Minus Zero Also Revealed
The weekend wasn’t just about Blade Runner. Attendees were treated to a new trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to Godzilla Minus One, directed by Takashi Yamazaki. The first film achieved international acclaim and won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
Godzilla Minus One followed the character Kōichi Shikishima, a kamikaze pilot grappling with survivor’s guilt following a traumatic encounter with Godzilla. The sequel promises to explore the aftermath, with a story set two years after Japan’s devastating conflicts.
“War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus,” the official synopsis explains. “As humanity fights to reclaim its normalcy, an even greater threat looms.”
Most of the core cast from the first film will reprise their roles, including Ryunosuke Kamiki as Kōichi, Minami Hamabe as Noriko, and Sae Nagatani as Akiko. Godzilla Minus Zero is set for theatrical release on November 3, 2026, with major studios eyeing upcoming projects such as Godzilla x Kong: Supernova in 2027.
