Legato Unveils AI-Enhanced Hearing Glasses for Improved Audio Experience
Legato, an innovating startup in hearing technology, has officially launched its flagship product, the Legato Frames, which utilize advanced AI to assist individuals with hearing challenges. Now available for purchase, these cutting-edge AI-based hearing glasses start at a price of $999.
The product aims to enhance accessibility in hearing care by tackling common issues associated with traditional hearing aids, including high costs, discomfort, and the social stigma tied to their use.
In contrast to conventional hearing aids that heavily rely on directional microphones which can falter in noisy environments, the Legato Frames adopt an innovative approach. Leveraging AI technology, they are capable of distinguishing between voices and background noise, effectively amplifying the sounds that matter while minimizing distractions.
The design of the frames features an open-ear concept, allowing wearers to engage with their surroundings without broadcasting sound to nearby individuals. A dual-speaker system is integrated, directing audio toward the user’s ears and successfully canceling out sound leakage—achieving a reduction of up to 99% just inches away from the ears.

Notably, all audio processing occurs directly on the glasses, without the need for cameras or recording, ensuring user privacy. With a lightweight build of 34 grams including lenses, the glasses offer a robust battery life of 10-12 hours. They come in three styles and are compatible with prescription lenses, as well as Bluetooth connectivity for music and phone calls.
The launch follows the company’s recent emergence from stealth mode, backed by a $12 million funding round from prominent investors including Neotribe Ventures, Listen, and Village Global.
Founded in 2024 by Mehul Trivedi and Steve Romine, both of whom bring extensive experience from their respective roles at Bose, the startup seeks to bridge the gap between hearing technology and smart eyewear. Their backgrounds include leading initiatives such as Bose Frames and overseeing hearing aid operations.
Customers can purchase the Legato Frames directly from the company’s website or via selected eye care providers across the United States, where they may qualify for vision insurance coverage.
