Apple Introduces iOS 27.3 with Intelligence Features in China
Apple Set to Introduce Apple Intelligence Features in China
Apple has announced the forthcoming launch of Apple Intelligence in China, coinciding with the rollout of iOS 27.3. This was revealed on the company’s Chinese newsroom website, as noted by MacRumors. The initial beta version of iOS 27.3, featuring this new intelligence, is expected to be available starting November 4th, with a full public release slated for December.
Notably, the launch will not include the updated AI capabilities for Siri. Instead, Apple will introduce a variety of existing features from Apple Intelligence. These include notification summaries, real-time translations, enhanced rewriting and proofreading tools, visual intelligence capabilities, and options for removing objects from images. Additionally, Apple has collaborated with Ailbaba to integrate support for its Qwen chatbot, echoing similar functionalities in iOS that utilize OpenAI’s ChatGPT launched in 2024.
Apple Intelligence received regulatory approval in China last July, indicating that the introduction of these AI tools was imminent. The company developed a specialized large language model (LLM) tailored for the Chinese market, with assistance from Ailbaba, as reported by Reuters in August.
Editor’s Take
This latest development reflects Apple’s strategic efforts to expand its AI capabilities within the Chinese market, enhancing user experiences while accommodating local preferences. For businesses and developers, the integration of familiar AI tools could pave the way for more innovative applications and improved user engagement. As Apple continues to refine its AI offerings, this may signal a growing competition in the tech space, particularly among major players looking to capitalize on advancements in artificial intelligence.
