Apple Introduces Enhanced Health App Featuring ‘Health Age’ and Readiness Score

Apple has unveiled a redesigned version of its Health app, coinciding with the launch of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. The new app harnesses the capabilities of Apple Intelligence to deliver deeper insights into health metrics.

A standout feature is the new Insights tab, which offers users timely information coupled with personalized recommendations and assessments. Notably, the app will now calculate a user’s “Health Age,” a metric that compares various health indicators—such as VO2 max and sleep patterns—with chronological age, integrating data from blood biomarkers as well.

Additionally, the app features a new longevity tab that assesses overall health through metrics related to sleep, heart health, and movement. Users can also include lab results in their health evaluations, thanks to a partnership with Quest, which offers a 50-biomarker panel for $119.

The enhancements brought by Apple Intelligence allow the app to interpret health data more effectively, with features like the readiness score and the Insights tab playing a pivotal role. For example, the system may recommend incorporating interval training in morning runs to enhance cardiovascular health.

Moreover, the app enables users to undertake detailed assessments of their physical capabilities, which is particularly beneficial for older adults or those recovering from injuries. The feature even allows trainers to demonstrate exercises, providing a virtual coaching experience.

The upgraded Health app is set to roll out later this year, starting with English-speaking users in the United States.
