The roller coaster, which debuted on September 16 of this year and reaches speeds of 72 mph, features design elements that direct rider cars away from homes during particularly intense moments. However, objections persist, particularly from residents in the affluent Toluca Lake area, who are calling for further noise-reduction initiatives.
One prominent neighbor, Roy P. Disney, a descendant of Walt Disney, voiced his discontent, positing that the situation could be a breach of Universal Studios’ land use permits. Another attendee expressed frustration over the noise disrupting his ability to compose music, with numerous attendees urging executives to consider the historical context of their homes, many of which predate the park itself, founded as a movie studio in 1912 and converting into a theme park in 1964.
