Anthropic Unveils Claude Duet App as Its Strategic Move in AI Agents

The landscape of artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly competitive, as Anthropic prepares to enter the fray with their new application, Claude Duet. This innovative app seeks to capture the attention of professionals and small businesses by automating task management and enhancing productivity.

Unlike traditional personal assistants, such as Instinct, Meta Muse, and OpenAI Dots, which often focus on errands and everyday tasks, Claude Duet is tailored to more specialized business use cases. It is designed to assemble daily briefings for users, develop dashboards, and suggest actionable steps based on user data.

Claude Duet operates in the background, utilizing its own virtual machine to complete tasks while users tend to other activities. The app notifies users only when their input is required, allowing for seamless multitasking.

This launch comes at a pivotal moment, as the market transitions from simple AI assistants to more sophisticated agents capable of working autonomously for users. Other competitors, like Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s Dots, are also adapting to incorporate business functionalities to attract professional users.

Built upon the Claude Opus 5.5 model, Duet offers proactive recommendations while monitoring ongoing tasks. It boasts the ability to connect with over 6,000 connectors and plugins available in the Claude Marketplace. Additionally, it can facilitate online purchases through Stripe’s Link digital wallet and Shopify’s Shop Pay, ensuring that sensitive transactions receive user approval before completion. However, it will not enable trading securities or transferring funds between accounts.

To enhance user security, Anthropic has implemented a new classifier that scrutinizes messages to protect sensitive information. By default, Claude Duet declines requests for critical data such as credit card numbers and government IDs.

Claude Duet is now accessible as an app on both iOS and Android devices, as well as through the web on Claude.ai for Pro and Max users during its research preview phase. Interested individuals must join a waitlist to obtain access.

Editor’s Take

The introduction of Claude Duet signals a significant shift in the AI marketplace, focusing on tools that enhance workplace efficiency. By prioritizing automation for professionals, Anthropic is addressing a vital need in the business sector. This could lead to wider adoption of AI agents, transforming how tasks are managed and executed in professional environments.
