Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Now Offers Direct Power Supply from Your TV
Amazon Launches New Fire TV Stick 4K with Streamlined Features
Amazon has unveiled the latest addition to its streaming device lineup: the Fire TV Stick 4K. This new model simplifies the setup process by eliminating the need for a separate power adapter; users can now connect directly via their TV’s USB port. This improvement mirrors a feature in the recently released entry-level Fire TV Stick, making it easier for consumers to access 4K streaming quality. The Fire TV Stick 4K is available for purchase starting today at a price of $59.99.
In a move to refine its product offerings, Amazon has narrowed its streaming stick range to four models: the Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and Fire TV Cube. The newly released Fire TV Stick 4K replaces the older “Select” and “Plus” versions of Amazon’s 4K streaming devices, streamlining choices for customers.
Alongside the Fire TV Stick 4K, Amazon introduced a redesigned Fire TV Remote. This new version features an asymmetrical design and enhanced tactile controls, aimed at improving user experience. Compatible with all Amazon Ember TVs and Fire TV devices from 2019 onward, the remote is available separately for $14.99 and will start shipping by late October. Amazon also plans to release a “Plus” version of the remote in early 2024, boasting an aluminum finish, backlit buttons, and a “Find My Remote” feature.
In addition to hardware updates, Fire TV users can look forward to a series of software enhancements. New features include the Alexa Plus Hub and an integration within the Fire TV mobile app. Amazon states that its AI capabilities now leverage real-world context, offering users more nuanced recommendations for movies and shows. Furthermore, a new Fire TV app for Amazon Music is set to launch later this fall, incorporating Alexa Plus for music and podcast suggestions.
Editor’s Take
This latest development from Amazon reflects a significant push towards enhanced user experience and convenience in streaming technology. By reducing setup complexity and integrating advanced features, Amazon aims to capture a broader audience. The updates not only streamline hardware options but also enrich the software experience, making it easier for users to interact with content in meaningful ways. This evolution could potentially reshape user engagement and preferences within the increasingly competitive streaming market.
