Boox Palma 3 Introduces Stylus Support and Modern Redesign

Introducing the latest addition to the e-reader market, the Palma 3 by Boox, this device marks a significant evolution within the Palma series. While it retains the widely recognized 6.13-inch E Ink Carta display, boasting a sharp 300ppi resolution, the Palma 3 stands out with its sleek new anodized aluminum frame and a textured fiberglass back, enhancing both aesthetics and durability.

Under the hood, however, much remains consistent with its predecessors. This pocket-sized e-reader is equipped with a Qualcomm Q-6690 octa-core processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM and a generous 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card. It runs on a substantial 3950mAh rechargeable battery and features a 16-megapixel rear camera, alongside a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button for added security.

The original Palma and the Palma 2 previously operated on Android versions 11 and 13, respectively. In a notable upgrade, the Palma 3 is powered by Android 16, providing a more contemporary interface aligned with current technological standards. Similar to the Palma 2 Pro, this new model also accommodates the Boox InkSense Plus active stylus, enabling users to transform their e-reader into an effective digital notepad. However, this accessory is sold separately and will add approximately $46 to the total cost, placing the Palma 3 in closer proximity to premium e-note devices like the Remarkable Paper Pure.

Editor’s Take

The introduction of the Palma 3 is significant in the evolving landscape of e-readers, offering improved specifications and modern software to better meet user needs. Its capability to function as a digital notepad enhances its appeal to professionals and students alike. As e-readers continue to merge functionality with portability, this model may set new standards in the industry.
